Wow, Shanna Hatfield does it again at what she does best. I loved this story in the American Mail Order Brides Series.Dacey was as wonderful a story as one can get. I love all of Shanna's stories but this one, well I had tears of joy at the end especially in what her beloved wrote to her just before she was to be married to the man of her dreams.Braxton didn't want to marry and his mother meddled again only this time he was sent a mail order bride from Pendleton, Oregon, who moved to Massachusetts to work in factory sewing to escape the clutches of her step father. but that factory burnt down days after she started and she had to do something so she became a mail order bride and off to North Carolina she went. She didn't know that Braxton lived on a Plantation and was a rather handsome and rich man as was his family. She had never seen such a place before and was overwhelmed with everything but he had told her that he wasn't going to marry her. Her mother insisted she stay at the mansion instead of returning to Oregon where she simply would not go back to.For the first time she finally felt alive and in a family that seemed to really care for her.She was falling in love with Braxton as she worked with his horses, training them, and working beside him at the plantation stables. She falling in love with him because of his kindness, gentleness and many other admirable qualities even though she knew he didn't want to marry her. But she had no other place to go and as long as they wanted her there, she could stay.Well, something horrible happened at the first ball she every attended and the next day she had to leave town. One of the men at the ball said he be glad to have her work for him in another city at his ranch so she left without anyone seeing her.I won't tell you the rest but it had my emotions up and down with all the twists and turns in this beautiful story. As I said I never had tears before in Shanna's stories, but laughed at her sassiness in her stories and loved the excitement she built up and just everything about her stories makes me want to read them again and again. This story of Dacey is no exception and I will be reading it again as well.Well done once again Shanna.
